Brief History & Demographic Information- Punjab

Punjab , the land of five rivers, is the soil from where saints and warriors were born historically. Before Independence and partition of India, the boundaries of this North Indian State used to run from Afghanistan to Delhi. The present form has come into existence since November 1st, 1966 after the predominantly Hindi speaking areas were carved out and Haryana was formed. The indomitable spirit, vivid culture and resolute character of Punjabis is well known across the world.

The Punjab State Branch was formed in 1998 with the collaborative efforts of post graduate students and Faculty of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The Branch has now blossomed into a vibrant community with presence of teaching Institutes and professionals in all districts of Punjab. Approximately 4100 physiotherapists of Punjab are registered with Indian Association of Physiotherapists. With almost 1000 students graduating very year, the figure is likely to swell rapidly.
